26th December 1945 – 20th November 2011
Gene Nocon, R.I.P.
11.28.2011 -
I read the sad news of Gene Nocon's passing on the front page of Chrome
Digital Labs website two days ago (thanks James, Shad and Kathy), he'd
passed three days earlier or so (Sunday, Nov. the 20th), it was a shocker.
My
condolences to other friends and family. M.S.
12.3.'11 - H is service yesterday, Friday, December 2nd was
wonderful, and was held at
the Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala at 10:30am.
The family had a wonderful reception
next door, with finger sandwiches, coffees and teas, and hundreds of folks
attended, he'd touched a lot of lives.
I took a few photos and will post them here soon. M.S.
He will be greatly missed by myself and a lot of the
photographic
community that came to know his friendly personality over the
decades here. Below was one of his daughter's invitation to his memorial.

Dear Friends and Family,
I am writing to you with the sad news of my father's passing. I got the
call on Monday morning that a neighbor had driven by and noticed him parked
in his garage Sunday night and that he was still there on Monday morning.
His passing was due to a heart attack but sounds very peaceful. I'm sorry
for the late notice but I am just going through his iPad and am slowly
making contact with his friends. Please reach me at 619-204-1907 or
onouskajian@xxxxxxxxx His service will be held on Friday, December 2nd at
the Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala at 10:30am.
A reception in his
honor will follow and a link to the website is included below. Please pass
this along to whoever would want to know or attend his service.
This memorial website was created in the memory of Gene (Generoso Carandang)
Nocon,
born in Cuenca, Batangas, Philippines on the 26th December 1945 and passed
away on the 20th November 2011, 65 years of age.
Gene Nocon on his f/stop printing timer he developed,
antidotes about printing for various photographers
(Amongst them were Terence Donovan, Terry O’neill, Linda McCartney, Cecil
Beaton,
Norman Parkinson, and through John Kobal [KOBAL HOLLYWOOD COLLECTION]
printed for George Hurrell, CS Bull, and other Hollywood greats)
and his thoughts on printing with computer enhancements now a days. Uploaded by Anthony Mournian
from a June 16th, 2008 interview. (Nicely done Anthony)
