Michael Seewald The artist was busy working on his
sculpture when I and my lovely assistant/wife, Valerie, came into his small shop
near the 'bottom' of a hill off the main square of San Gimignano. He instantly
went for the lights, which completely threw the space into a brightly lit
gallery, losing the great natural sidelight I'd noticed on him and his cat
sculpture as I'd stepped into his shop. I politely asked if he'd turn it off
again, and if I could set up and make my own art while he made his. This was all
in sign language as he spoke no English, and my Italian/Spanish is poor.
