"Twilight, Murano Glass
Island, Venice Italy" Just outside of the chain of islands that make up Venice is one called Murano. It is world famous for the centuries old art form of glass blowing. Maybe you’ve heard of the term ‘Murano glass’. I like the island for many reasons, the first and foremost being that it is a hub of ‘artisan busyness’. Creative juices flow there, as in the marble sculptors region of Massa-Carrara that I also love to work, in the Tuscany region of Italy. But it happens sometimes, as it did here, that I would work right past my prime creating hour of twilight and into making night scenes, ‘by mistake’? Maybe, but maybe not as the subject calls out to be captured before I gather my weary synapses together (having already walked/ worked 14 hours) and find the right ferry to ‘mainland Venice’. Once there I usually grabbed a bite to eat and then caught a train or bus to Mestre, a town just 10 minutes out of Venice- i.e. more affordable, to my hotel.
