“Woman-child, Monk, Lhasa, Tibet,
2004”.
Possible image to be sponsored, series ‘in progress’.
Lhasa is rich with history and teaming with the
religious Tibetans coming to worship. I photographed an interesting old
worshipper in front of one of the many temples, having him pose in front
of some prayer wheels. While stowing the gear away a young woman appeared
from the temple and spoke in slow motion. “Where - are - you - fum” she
said, reading from an English phrase book. She looked so childlike and innocent
“I must capture her” I thought. After much cajoling, giving up twice and
asking the Lord for help, she finally agreed to be photographed with two
other lady monks. They chickened out and I got her by herself, as I'd
originally wanted. She gave me enough time to take a couple of shots and
bam, she went back inside the temple. Photo session over. I
was glad to capture her as she was very very shy. I would be willing
to bet the farm that I was the first person to ever take her portrait. Thank U Lord! MS

Note: This is an advanced image release from the 'Tibet, China'
series. The rest of the series is to released in the summer of 2005, and
it will be a very strong set of images indeed. Expect to see many in
