Manfrotto/Bogen 'medium digital tripod' 725b
with ball head and quick release plate.

A 35mm camera tripod, #725b,
with ball head and quick release.

A better tripod only because of the  'ball  head' and it's overall light weight; good for most any regular 35mm camera or even the smaller medium-format cameras up to 7.7 lbs in weight. This will work perfect for 90% of you.

If you shoot more than one camera at a time, as Michael does, get an extra quick release plate and mount one to each of your cameras.  Again, just leave them on for quick mounting and removing.

The unit pictured above is very sturdy for it's size, and very light (only 3.1 lbs.).  And since it has the suggested ball head- and now includes a quick release and carrying bag, it is the one Michael suggests you get.

Only 3.1 lbs total weight.
Total price for this package...
only $139.95.

MAG FIBER TRIPOD /  Cat. No: 190MF3

The new 190MF3 represents the top of Manfrotto’s lightweight tripod range. The190MF3 provides professional photographers with a tripod that’s very light, compact, simple to use, strong, and extremely versatile to position.

Without compromising on stability or rigidity of the tripod, Manfrotto engineers reduced the weight of the 190MF3 by utilizing carbon fiber legs with quick action lever locks in magnesium and resin. In addition, they incorporated the patented design of the 3001PRO series top spider which offers four leg angle settings, and converts the center column into a lateral arm.

The center column itself is of the latest generation of aluminum and resin materials. The low-angle adapter forms the top section of the center column and is easily detached by simply unscrewing the knob at the bottom of the column. This enables the head to be left mounted on the center column when switching between low-angle and normal shooting positions.

All parts are assembled using a proven pressure clamp technology for greater durability and in-the-field serviceability. To make transportation even easier, the 190MF3 is supplied with a hand padded carrying strap that can also double as a hook to hang weight and increase stability during extreme wind conditions.

    Accessories:
    *PADDED TRIPOD BAG (31.5")
    [MBAG80P]
    *SNOW SHOES [230]
    *APRON SUPPORT [3146]
    *COMPACT LEVELING HEAD [3502]

    In depth info:

The patented cast magnesium tripod shoulder design allows the carbon fiber center column to double as a lateral arm. Converts in seconds and provides table-top and overhead camera positions impossible with standard tripods.

The low-angle adapter forms the top section of the center column. It is easily detached without any tools by simply unscrewing the knob at the bottom of the column.
The two-part center column switches between normal and low-angle work without forcing you to remove the camera and head every time you need to change position.
