A fortuitous visit to Carmel, California the summer before ended up with my being invited to show my work in a ‘painting gallery’.  It was expanding and I was to take part in the opening night unveiling.  Monterey County is picturesque so I combined the trip up there with a sponsored series.  To the owner’s amazement 90% of attendees on opening night focused on my art.  This perplexed her as I was, in her mind, just a ‘side-show’ that represented this ‘new art’ that was sweeping the country.  Anyway, three months later she took it out!  Why?  She said “all interest was zeroed into your art, but they didn’t want to pay the price, killing all sales!!?” OUCH.  MS
