Greeting art lovers,

We are pleased to announce that Michael will be releasing his’ Sichuan Provence, China’ and ‘Tibet’ series at our 23rd annual Christmas party this Saturday, December the 10th from 6 to 9 p.m., at our Encinitas studio.  We hope those that live in the area can make it to meet Michael and see his latest pieces that have been a year and a half in the making.  Here is a link to most of the images from these two series: http://www.seewald.com/sichuan_provence.htm.  Directions to our studio are at the bottom of any page on our website.

Do you have someone that would love to take a Michael Seewald Photographic Weekend Workshops?  They make a great gift and it’s that time of year.  Maybe treat yourself!  More info at: http://www.seewald.com/photo_wkshp_intro_pg.htm

And a Seewald original or reproduction would also be something that would keep giving a lifetime.  How about the one above?

“ ‘Woman-child’, Lhasa, Tibet” is available as an original:

Larger sizes available, inquire.  These prices will increase with each sale, be the first to order before they sell out.  Framing is not usually included, but it’s Christmas so it’s on us this time!

If some of these links don’t work when you click on them just copy and paste them in your ‘browser bar’, then hit the ‘enter’ bar and it should take you right there.

We are sorry to say our 14th annual yearly calendar has not been produced this upcoming year, it’s a long story, but the 2007 will be.  It will be of this China series.

As always, we give away some art with each newsletter and this one is no different- EXCEPT THIS TIME WE ARE GIVING AWAY ORIGINALS, 6 OF THEM.  Just go to the China images page - http://www.seewald.com/sichuan_provence.htm, and if your name is listed on the bottom you will win an 11x11” image worth $1,000.  Good luck- just let us know you saw your name to claim your image.

We hope the holiday season brings much joy to you and yours,

Valerie Seewald
 for Michael and Valerie

PS If you have been receiving our newsletter for awhile, you know we tell you when our friend John Stokes, a master puzzle maker, has outdone himself.  Well, he has. The latest piece is his own creation "The Incredible Pea Pattern" (instead of another Seewald image) and we think you will be impressed with the artistic nature of it.  It’s on eBay at this address for bidding/looking: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6019122428.  At last look it was up to $390 and climbing.  About two days left on the bidding.

PPS You Umbria sponsors will be notified about choosing soon, Michael has narrowed the
series down to his top 30 and you will be called soon to pick.  Thanks for your patience.

Greetings,

We hope this newsletter finds everyone on top of their game.  Of course, each newsletter we send out means we’ve picked a name from our mailing list to award someone (you?) with an original, keep reading to find out where the name is posted on our site, you must see it to claim it.

Michael has been busy with his soon to be released China series’, ‘Tibet’ and ‘Sichuan Provence, China’.  The sponsors are picking their favorites, and then they will be printed and exhibited at our studio in Encinitas.  The Umbria sponsors will be choosing their images in a couple of months too.

We have collected enough donations to go to So. Africa, and will leave towards the end of September.  Michael and I will plant gardens and have heard the average planter per person will be about 130.  That included 8 plants per garden, with record keeping and photographing the family standing by their new garden. Each garden feeds eight, so that means each person will be helping, directly, over 1,000 people!  Who said we can’t put a dent in the worlds’ problems. We are still shy of $800, if you would like to partner with us still and donate this, or any other amount, it’s tax deductible- go here to find out more: http://www.seewald.com/dream_for_africa.htm

Michael will stay for an extra 15 days in Africa and will make some new art.  Sponsorships are available (only 6) so if you’d like to get a Seewald original let us know.  Starting price for sponsoring is only $1,500 for a 16”x20”.

Michael held a photo class in Carmel/Monterey California last month, and will hold another there before we leave in September.  If you are interested in a weekend workshop on how to use that new digital camera, whom better to learn from than the master?  Only $395 for the weekend class here in San Diego, and $495 up in Carmel.  The one week workshop would run $995 in Carmel.  The past few weekend classes have been sell outs, as is the next, but we just put two on the future schedule, one in mid August. Here is the link: http://www.seewald.com/photo_wkshp_intro_pg.htm

Our friend John Stokes has done it again.  He has taken one of Michael’s reproductions and pasted it on a fine piece of wood and then spent days cutting it into a swirled combination of designs and symbols, a piece of art in itself.  It is part of his ‘100 puzzles’ project, and must be seen to be appreciated.  It’s on EBay at this point, with about a day left before the bidding is finished.  It is up to about $250 so far, but who knows what it will end up selling for.  The image is ‘Red Boat, Thailand’, and is in this years Seewald art calendar.  Here is the link to view it on EBay (hit on the second one of two if two appear): http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=5989098567

As always, we have a free drawing with each newsletter.  The last drawing we drew Angela Ledford’s name, but she did not go to the web page listed and see her name, so she forfeited the $2,250 Seewald original she could have claimed.  Don’t be in the same boat as her.  Go to this page, and if your name is found there, just report back to claim it. Good luck.  It’s on BOTTOM the sponsorship info page: http://www.seewald.com/sponsorship_info.htm

Thanks for your continued support,
Valerie Seewald

Greetings, We hope this newsletter finds everyone healthy, wealthy and wise.  As always, we have drawn some of your names for our drawing.  You may have won an original this time, not a reproduction, to celebrate our trip to Africa in July to help some people there.

May newsletter, Table of contents.

  1. Carmel/Monterey Photo classes announced/ recent testimonial
  2. Dream for Africa Program.
  3. Gallery opening info & China/Tibet sponsors to choose their image soon.
  4. Closing/ notification of winners for this newsletter

1.  Carmel/Monterey Photo classes

Michael has been real busy as his photography classes have really taken off.  So many people want to start making great images of their family, travels, etc., and word of mouth, and internet searches, have brought many people to us for them.  Most of the next few are already sold out.  Michael is offering one up in Carmel/Monterey California at the end of June. Both a weekend class and a complete week.  Of course, he somehow manages to teach beginners to advanced all in one class, with all reporting they rec’d more than their monies worth.  Details on website: http://www.seewald.com/photo_wkshp_intro_pg.htm

Testimonial:
Hi Michael-

Thanks for the great workshop this weekend. Learning about how the eye moves around the image was worth at least twice (no -- three times) the price. I am going to try to finish the exercises to increase my understanding of the process. With all your encouragement, I am going to try entering the Marin county fair...
...Given the in-depth portfolio review we had over the weekend, I believe that your price could have been $1750...
...Thanks again for all the help. Let me know if I can return the favor.
Take care,
Dorothy

2.  Dream for Africa:
Other exciting news is that we are both going to South Africa with an organization called ‘Dream for Africa’.  Here is a copy of the newsletter Michael sent out to many friends and family.  You may, we hope, want to partner with us to help feed the starving.

Dear Friends,

I have some exciting news to share with you.   I am going to So. Africa with Valerie and about 200 other people from our church, North Coast Calvary Chapel.

This is an amazing opportunity to be part of the answer to devastating hunger among millions of people in Africa.   My trip is with Bruce Wilkinson’s, the founder of the two year old faith based humanitarian organization called Dream for Africa.  (He is also the author of  the best seller ‘Prayer of Jabez’, so his name may ring a bell).  If you would like more specifics visit the Dream for Africa website at www.DreamForAfrica.com

Basically we will go village by village, hut by hut and plant gardens.  For whatever reason, they don’t know about gardening at all. We will educate them on how take care for it after we plant it.  Initially, over 100,000 gardens were planted last year by just a few folks, which fed about 800,000!  This year I believe it’s a one million garden goal.  In many huts the oldest person will be only 13 or 14, taking care of four or five younger siblings; the parents having died from aids.  Two million starve there per year, but we will start to turn things around.

I would like to ask you to considering partnering with us by giving financially.   The total cost of the trip for each of us is $3,000.   This covers everything… plane fare, food, lodging, in country travel, and gardening necessities.   Any donation you make will help many families in effect.  We would like you to send us a photo of yourself/selves and we will get one with one of the families that we will present it to.  We hear they are so appreciative of any small thing they get, and will cherish it as a reminder of the folks that came to help them from a land far, far away.

We have enclosed an envelope for mailing your gift to Dream for Africa.   It will be donated towards our trip and you will receive a tax receipt as it is tax deductible donation- 501(c)(3).   Please use my participant code #212 9211 when you give.   (You can also give on-line through the secure website www.DreamForAfrica.com, or call 1-800-901-7585.  Credit cards –Visa, M/C, and Amex- are accepted too.)   You can go to our website to get updates of our trip and how close to the amount we currently are:  http://www.seewald.com/dream_for_africa.htm .

I look forward to hearing back from you within the next week or two.   Thank you again for your time and consideration.   I look forward to sharing with you about our adventure when we return.

Dreaming for Africa,  Michael

So far, we have had over $2,100 dollars sent to the organization to help cover our trip, some of it our own money.  Any questions on this program please contact either them or us. A special thanks to those of you who have already donated to D.F.A. for us, you will be blessed mightily by the Good Lord for doing so.

3.   Sponsor info corner:
We will be having a summer art show opening soon at our Encinitas Studio, so we will keep you informed of that.  The China/Tibet sponsors will be picking soon too, and Michael has said this will be his best ‘people study’ series ever.  He said it will be very tough for the sponsors to choose just one.

Future sponsorships are available for Southern Italy and also Southern France, trips Michael will take this fall.  First come first serve so let us know of any interest.  More details on Michael’s program here: http://www.seewald.com/sponsorship_info.htm

4.  Free drawing winners:

As always, we give some art away with each newsletter sent out.  This time the winners name is listed at the bottom of our ‘Dream for Africa’ page, located here: http://www.seewald.com/dream_for_africa.htm  Good luck on being the winner.  NOTE, we did pull someone’s name who was referred, plus the person that referred them was referred, so we ended up with three winners, as that’s the way we work it.  Send someone to our site to sign the guestbook, and if we pull their name you both win.

Thanks for your continued interest,
Valerie Seewald
